Layouts

First Iteration

Critique #1: Jackson Brown

Liked the second version more. I should continue working on repositioning a few items. Could look at the alignment of blocks of text. Increasing the size of the text will help fill up space, and I may have to cut down on text if I make it too large. Likes that the second version is open and not blocked. Also the chameleon at the bottom of the page needs to be redone to fit this size.

Model emulation feedback

Make sure everything is left aligned and ad some text in a few places to match the model.

From this review I worked on the allignment. I made sure that everything is left aligned. I also redid the chameleon at the bottom of the page so that it doesn't appear to be stretched out.

Critique #2: Johnson Goh

Likes the second version more because it tells more of a story. Starts very broad and gets more specific as it goes. The titles jump out much better in the second and create a clearer presentation. Noticed the two displays at the top are opposite color scheme, I should make these the same. Be careful of rounded rectangles, make sure they are rounded to the same degree. I could add a little bit of separation between where chameleon’s come from and the line above it.

Example: When I showed him my models...he thinks the size of my sections doesn't emulate my layout model...

From this critique I changed the color scheme of the lifespan display towards the top. I made it gray to match the classification display. I also worked on the spacing between headings and content.

Critique #3: Jessica

Thought the top part had a lot of intense information. It could use some more whitespace to spread it out. Thought I could change the map outline to a dashed line.

Model emulation feedback
Liked how the main appearance display matched the layout model.

From this review I re spaced my layout, eliminating confusing whitespace.

Second Iteration

Critique #1: Kailey Chan

Kailey thought after looking at it all together in a layout that I should add more light green. One way to do this would be to change dark green lines and headings to light green. Also thought that I could increase the size of the night and day labels below the time display.

From this review I added the light green to a few more places, and made a few of the light green areas larger.

Critique #2: Maria Alberts

Maria thought that the new version looked cleaner than the last. She thought I could also move the main appearance display to the bottom like the layout model does. Could get rid of whitespace above main display.

This review was part of my reworking of the numbers display.

Critique #3: Tuvshin Tulga

Thought that the bar graph didn’t fit with the alignment. Said I could turn the text into two columns, and then moving the graph under the heading, and replacing it with an emblem to represent lifespan. Also thought that the lines above text in the main appearance display need to be left aligned to the text.

Revisions based on this critique

From this review I completely redid the layout of the bar graph numbers display and ended up creating a new display to fit the white space. I also added more emblems to the sides of headings.
